Your First Visit
High Tech Check-In
Upon entering our office, you will be provided with a clip board with a “welcome sheet” to fill out. Here you will provide your basic information regarding your name, insurance information, emergency contact info and other important information including your primary complaints and reason for visiting our office. That information will be placed into our system and you will be given a patient number. After that you will be required to complete the rest of your information on a table PC. You do not need to be computer savvy to enter your information.
Our office utilizes a "paperless" an electronic record keeping system that is HIPPA compliant which allows us to maintain your Electronic Health Records. Our staff will assist those who need help. You do not need to be computer savvy. This system provides clear and concise documentation, while allowing us to submit copies of your medical records to attorney offices, insurance companies and other health care facilities in a more timely and efficient manner. It also helps the environment!
Consultation / History
Once you have been entered into the system and check-In is complete, you will have a private consultation with Dr. Hans. During this time Dr. Hans will be gathering information regarding your social history, family history, known allergies, past surgeries/hospitalizations, current medications you may be taking and other important information.
In order to determine what is causing your problem, Dr. Hans will perform a detailed examination consisting of palpation, range of motion, muscle test, orthopedic test, neurological test, and anything else that may be helpful in helping him to obtain an accurate diagnosis.
MRI or X-Ray Studies
Your specific condition may require us to refer you out for X-Rays or an MRI to determine a more accurate diagnosis such as a herniated or bulging disc, spinal stenosis, facet syndrome or a number of other conditions that may be causing your symptoms. This will also allow our office to obtain more information which may be necessary if we determine the need for an outside referral to an orthopedist or other health care professional. We work in a cooperative fashion with other health care facilities to see that you get the best care available.
Special care is given to avoid unnecessary X-ray exposure, while making sure that the best care is provided for all. If you are pregnant, please make sure to let our office know.
Same Day Treatment
Once finished with the initial examination and consultation, patients will generally be provided with their first treatment during this same visit. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or other modalities designed to relieve pain and inflammation. This will be determined by Dr. Hans on a case by case basis.
Prior to leaving our office, patients will be given specific instructions on certain activities or procedures to be performed at home. This may include the use of ice or heat, home exercises and/or stretches, proper lifting techniques, certain activities to avoid to order to prevent an exacerbation of your symptoms. Any outside referral recommendation may be made at that time.
Schedule Your Next Appointment
You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete Review of Findings (ROF) with Dr. Hans. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time. Your condition will be reviewed and the Dr. Hans will encourage you to ask question you so that you fully understand what’s causing your problem and how our office can help you. Dr. Hans will also go over your treatment options and discuss finances at that time.
