First Visit

High Tech Check-In

Upon entering our office, you will Check-In on a touch screen tablet computer. Our office utilizes a "paperless" electronic record keeping system that helps maintain the most up-to-date and detailed Electronic Health Records. You will enter your initial information using a stylus and a touch tablet PC. Our staff will assist those that are not computer savvy. This system provides excellent and clear documentation, while helping the environment!

Consultation

Once Check-In is complete, you will have a consultation with Dr. Hans to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options.

History and Examination

In order to determine what is causing your problem, Dr. Hans will ask you questions related to your specific condition. This will include you’re health history, past medical history, family history, any surgeries or hospitalizations you have had in the past, allergies and any medications you are currently taking.  After that, an exam will be performed and a number of specialized tests will be done to determine a diagnosis and which areas of the spine or extremities are involved.

MRI or X-Ray Studies

Your specific condition may require us to refer you out for X-Rays or an MRI to determine a more accurate diagnosis such as a herniated or bulging disc, spinal stenosis, facet syndrome or a number of other conditions that may be causing your symptoms. This will also allow our office to obtain more information which may be necessary if we determine the need for an outside referral to an orthopedist or other health care professional. We work in a cooperative fashion with other health care facilities to see that you get the best care available.

Special care is given to avoid unnecessary X-ray exposure, while making sure that the best care is provided for all. If you are pregnant, please make sure to let our office know.

Same Day Treatment

Once finished with the initial examination and consultation, patients will generally be provided with their first treatment during this same visit. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. This will be determined by Dr. Hans on a case by case basis.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving our office, patients will be given specific instructions on certain activities or procedures to be performed at home. This may include the use of ice or heat, home exercises and/or stretches, proper lifting techniques, certain activities to avoid to order to prevent an exacerbation of your symptoms. Any outside referral recommendation may be made at that time.

Schedule Your Next Appointment

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete Review of Findings (ROF) with Dr. Hans. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time. Your condition will be reviewed and the Dr. Hans will encourage you to ask question you so that you fully understand what’s causing your problem and how our office can help you. Dr. Hans will also go over your treatment options and discuss finances at that time.

Please call the office at (770) 622-9355 during normal office hours, or feel free to text Dr. Hans outside of office hours at (678) 508-7246.
